Forte dei Marmi, the crown jewel of Tuscany’s Mediterranean coast, boasts unmatched sun-kissed shores and seaside splendor. Its past tells a story of transformation from a quaint fishing village to a glamorous jet-set playground. Candy-colored umbrellas from beach clubs dot the pristine sands, with the Apuan Alps providing a majestic backdrop. The eighteenth century epitomized aesthetic perfection through landmarks like Versailles and the opulence of Marie-Antoinette's court, showcasing Enlightenment ideals of reason and freedom. From rococo to neoclassicism, it marked a dynamic era in arts, design, and literature, whose stylistic codes still inspire contemporary creators. Assouline's Style series, curated by Sophie Motsch and Emmanuel Sarméo, celebrates this enduring influence with captivating images across architecture, art, fashion, and design, capturing the timeless allure of 18th Century Style.

ICELAND’S AESTHETICS ARE BEAUTIFUL IN THEIR PARADOX: POWERFUL AND CHAOTIC, YET SERENE AND SIMPLE. THE LANDSCAPES ARE REMARKABLE, BUT WHAT’S BELOW THE SURFACE IS OFTEN MORE INCREDIBLE.

— Matthew Woolsey

Despite being known as the Land of Fire and Ice, Iceland and its people have quite a welcoming presence—outfitted in cozy wool sweaters and blanketed in endless summer sunlight. With breathtaking landscapes, folkloric tales, plentiful hot springs, and contemporary Icelandic music, Iceland is primed for the cultural connoisseur looking for adventure. The Golden Circle is a great place to start, a route that passes Þingvellir National Park, Gullfoss waterfall, and the Geysir Geothermal Area—just a taste of the many wonders scattered across the nation. Whether it’s a helicopter ride over glaciers or a stay in a glass-walled villa beneath the northern lights, a trip to Iceland in Europe is unforgettable.

In Reykjavík, Nordic design meets a vibrant creative scene in the form of cutting-edge restaurants such as Dill and experimental-music festivals like Airwaves, all beneath the towering silhouette of Hallgrímskirkja, the city’s largest house of worship. This land shaped artists like Björk and Ásmundur Sveinsson, whose avant-garde creations echo the country’s untamed beauty and otherworldly pulse. Out in the countryside, turf-roofed houses and steaming geothermal pools speak to a life lived in harmony with nature. Unlike any previous titles in Assouline’s Travel Series, Iceland Epic is a journey to a new world.

When she isn’t writing, she’s making a (beautiful) mess with watercolors and clay, which form a body of work that’s also inspired by the Land of Fire and Ice.

"There is something so captivating about orchids. Rendered with white enamel over golden brass, each bloom glistens with quiet vibrance. The elegant composition of finishes creates a perfect balance, evoking a feeling of subtle luxury. Each stem feels so delicate and weightless, belying the fact that the pieces are forged in metal and anchored in marble, crafted to last an eternity." -M

The Tulip Collection celebrates rebirth as the ground begins to thaw and new life flourishes. Inspired by the feathery petals of the Parrot Tulip, each petal ripples as if the flower is about to take flight. Symbolic of perfect love, these expressive blooms tell a story of life: of passion, grace, and new beginnings. The Tulip Collection features elaborate sculpts in a modern, lyrical way. The white enamel and gold finish reflects the effect of light and shadow that caress each flower as the world begins to wake.

“I’ve grown up with tulips in my garden since I was a child, and still enjoy the surprise of them as a first sign of spring. The image of their stems forcing through the dirt and eventually bowing under the weight of their heavy headed blooms is something I find so precious and beautiful.” -M.

In hand-blown glass of sky blue and celadon green, the Marius scented candle reveals swirling patterns that illuminate beneath the flame like light filtering through Provençal olive groves.

Marius embodies the vegetal soul of Provence, between artisanal breath and aromatic poetry.

The quality of our scented candles involves a specific burning ritual. Each time the candle is burnt, it is important to wait until the entire surface liquefies before extinguishing the candle. This will prevent the formation of craters which are unattractive and make burning more difficult. The first time you light your candle, it will always burn for longer than on subsequent occasions. Allow time for the first layer of wax to liquefy completely. The length of time this takes varies depending on the size of the candle.

Never burn the last 1cm (1/2 inch) of wax to avoid flames burning against the glass.

PETIT GRAIN

OLIVE TREE

CYPRESS

Fresh and resolutely green, petit grain opens with bright, leafy notes that capture dawn's gentle arrival. The vegetal roundness of olive leaves enriches the heart before cypress settles into woody elegance, evoking the vegetal soul of Provence.

Claire is a sculptural centerpiece. Crafted in heavy clear crystal, its surface is engraved with delicate linear patterns that refract light and create a mesmerizing play of shadows. Though bold in scale, Claire appears to float, its “butterfly” silhouette embodying visual lightness and quiet elegance. A statement vase designed to anchor the modern table with artistic depth and refined craftsmanship.
