"There is such power in narrative images for me. There is a feeling that we're creating an entire imaginary world, building designs around interactive themes that are familiar to all of us. The shapes are obvious and immediate and, at the same time, impressionistic and lyrical - the way a small child might imagine the scenes in a story he's being told. The image of the tree of life is one of my favorites. It is an idea which is so widely expressed in all cultures and by all religions that it becomes a universal symbol of hope."

The Butterfly Ginkgo Gold Collection pays tribute to Michael’s original Butterfly Ginkgo Collection, which first debuted in 2007 and shortly thereafter became one of the most iconic motifs in Aram's oeuvre. With the launch of this second generation interpretation of one of his favorite collections, Aram breathes new life into one of his most poetic motifs with solid brass sculpts, polished to a gold hue, and featuring painted white enamel butterflies.

“I still remember making the first rendition of Butterfly Ginkgo and knowing in my heart that it would become an important motif for me. Inspired by a ginkgo leaf blowing through my bedroom window one day, I looked at the gingko tree outside with fresh eyes, imagining its leaves as butterflies ready to take flight.” M

"There are Champa, or Frangipani trees in my garden and at my workshop in India. In fact, they are all over India. They are generally planted near Buddhist and Hindu Temples since they are considered spirit trees, highly symbolic of love and recreation. While the flowers are recognized for their beauty, gentle color transitions and fragrance, it is actually the stiff, glossy leaf that intrigues me most. There is such strength in their regimented and perfected shapes."

Typically, evil eye charms in a house are meant to keep jealousy and bad energy away while protecting all who come to or dwell in the home. "I have always been intriqued by objects as symbols and the inherent power that is transmitted through them. As kids, we had turquoise charms pinned to our clothes to protect us, and there was always something comforting about having a symbol of protection in our home."

The Calla Lily Collection is inspired by the beauty of the calla lily flower. The architectural, curving shape of the flower is strong, yet suggests an intense sensuality. The flower is associated with weddings as is symbolic of purity and innocence.

"I was thinking of the romance of weddings and how bouquets often use flowers which carry symbolism. I remembered a picture of a woman I had seen holding her bouquet of calla lilies. She was classic, timeless, and modern all at once. There is something so alluring about the billowy flowers and arching stems which feel contemporary, yet still utterly romantic."

The Orchid Collection celebrates the ethereal spirit of the orchid plant. Symbolic of purity and grace, this collection captures the delicate nature of orchids while also expressing a quality of mystery and sensuality.

“There is something so captivating about orchids. In white, there is a sense of purity that I associate with new beginnings. I imagine the calm solitude of an early morning, or the eagerness of a blossoming friendship.” ~M

"I was having lunch with friends on a veranda overlooking the sea when I looked down to the lawn and saw a fallen palm frond. The Butterfly Ginkgo Collection celebrates the representation of flora as fauna. Michael's fascination with a particular type of ginkgo tree , the Ginkgo Biloba, or "Butterfly Ginkgo", which grows with a double leaf reminiscent of a butterfly's wings, gave rise to a fantasia image of the plant. Executed at the highest level of handcraftsmanship, each piece is rendered in solid brass with hand etched cocoon-shaped vessels. The pieces in the collection are a tour de force of the handcrafted process, capturing the poetic spirit that is so deeply indicative of Michael's work.

"The first time I saw this tree, it literally looked like it had been completely overtaken by butterflies... as if they would all take flight the moment I walked too close or made a noise.
