“I wanted to modernize the shape of the menorah without sacrificing its soulful, traditional essence,” says Polskin. “As with many of my abstract works, it’s been fascinating to see the varied interpretations of this menorah. Some viewers see Hebrew letters, others see animals, and some simply describe the feeling it evokes. For me, it was crucial that the design maintain its identity as a religious object, one that still carries a sense of spiritual depth.”
